Originally from Orange County, CA, Mary La Blanc is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Music in Percussion Performance at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. At USC, La Blanc studies with Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians Joseph Pereira and James Babor. She also studies marimba with Naoko Takada and has studied drum set with Peter Erskine and Chad Wackerman. In 2019, she was a fellow at the National Orchestral Institute.
Who do you consider to be the most meaningful person in your life?
BOTH of my parents… I can’t choose just one! They have always been my biggest supporters, and I wouldn’t be who I am today without them.
What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
I have a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo and a junior black belt in karate.
